June 2016

Not normally a fan of biopics, but “Love & Mercy” is truly enjoyable. Tragic, dramatic and insightful into the life of the music genius Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys. See it.

And finally it´s Midsummer. A bumpy night with thunder/rain and waking up to not having electricity in the apartment has turned into a really warm and sunny morning with electricity in the end. I am looking forward to the traditional celebration with solid friends this afternoon. I wish you all a beautiful Midsummer! ‪#‎Midsummer2016‬

The highly-anticipated reveal sees 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric wrap a floating dock that connects various points on Italy’s Lake Iseo. Undulating with the movement of the waves, visitors can now experience ‘the floating piers’ as they walk from Sulzano to Monte Isola and to the Island of San Paolo, which it completely encircles. The 3 kilometer-long walkway extends clear across the water, with surrounding mountains offering a bird’s-eye view of a golden network of passageways that lead in and around the town. The fabric continues along 1.5 kilometers of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio. (via Designboom)

As a graphic designer – whether you work with a creative director at a design agency or you’re working from home as a freelancer – you’re bound to come into contact with some pretty frustrating clients. Whilst there’s no easy way to escape clients from hell, you can use their ridiculous requests for your own inspiration.

This project from Zerouno collates all the ridiculous quotes they’ve received from clients over the years and turns them into some rather wonderful typography posters. It’s a hilarious and often shocking insight into what clients want of their designers. (via Creative Bloq)

On October 25th, 2016 New York Times bestselling novelist and cultural trickster Chuck Palahniuk will publish Bait: Off-Color Stories for You to Color, his first ever coloring book for adults, this fall with Dark Horse Books. Bait will be both the coloring book debut and the second short story collection for Palahniuk, author of Lullaby and Fight Club. The book will contain eight bizarre tales, illustrated in detailed black and white by Joëlle Jones (Lady Killer), Lee Bermejo (The Suiciders), Duncan Fegredo (Hellboy), and more. Each story is paired with pieces of colorable original art, nearly 50 in all. Dark Horse Books will publish Bait: Off-Color Stories for You to Color as an 8.5 x 11 inch hardcover album, with uncoated and white interior paper stock, accompanied by a cover illustrated and colored by Duncan Fegredo and designed by Nate Piekos.
