There´s plenty of fantastic Christmas songs you know by heart and listen to every year, but there´s also some Christmas songs that truly stands out and ”Do They Know It´s Christmas?” with Band Aid from 1984 is one of them.

Band Aid was a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” for the Christmas market that year. On 25 November 1984, the song was recorded at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill, London, and was released in the UK four days later. The single surpassed the hopes of the producers to become the Christmas number one on that release.

I still remember seeing the video for the first time with Bono, Sting, Phil Collins, Paul Weller, The Boomtown Rats, Heaven 17, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Wham etc and what an impact that song made on not just me but so many people in general. And for a heartwarming cause to help Ethiopia in a very difficult time. I love the fact that the video was shot during the recording of the song and you get the feeling of how everyone involved put everything they had in this song. I love the magic opening of the song and in that instant you know it will be a fantastic song. See, listen and enjoy. #BandAid
