I am not a car nerd and will never be, but I do have a favourite car which is the Porsche 911S. This is a beautiful piece of car in my mind and L.A. based Photographer Alex Bernstein´s images makes this car look even more fantastic.

Volkswagen has teamed up with the Discovery Channel—and marine biologist Luke Tipple—for Discovery Channel’s annual ‘Shark Week’ event, to create an ‘underwater car’, a shark observation cage. The one-of-a-kind ‘Volkswagen Beetle Mobile Shark Cage’ is a shark cage in the shape of the iconic Beetle, which divers can use to drive along the ocean floor and interact with sharks.

The mobile Beetle has: a structure made from tubular alumium, alloy wheels, iconic bug headlights, a full-air system that divers can hook up to, and propellers. “We wanted the integration to be authentic and fit naturally with the Volkswagen brand, imprinting our signature style on Shark Week,” Justin Osborne, general manager of marketing communications for Volkswagen America, said. “The Beetle Shark Cage plays on the silhouettes of two of the most iconic images, the shark fin and the Volkswagen Beetle.” (via DesignTaxi)

Come fall 2013, New York City will have a new fleet of yellow taxis—in the form of a minivan specifically, the Nissan NV200. This next generation of the iconic NYC cabs was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show currently happening in the city. Hailed as the “Taxi of Tomorrow”, it will feature sliding doors, antibacterial seats, airbags in the back and outlets to charge mobile phones. The Nissan NV200 Taxi was selected after a two-year competitive bid selection process by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC).

According to Nissan officials, the vehicle was engineered to handle the city’s 6,300 miles of pothole-riddled streets. Priced at US$29,700, the minivan also includes a fuel-efficient engine, a transparent roof and 10-inches of more legspace.

“This taxi was designed from the inside out and the result is the safest, most comfortable, most passenger-friendly cab to ever ride our streets,” NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

“For the first time our city will have a cab designed for those who matter most—the passengers and drivers.”

The vehicle will be on display to the public at the International Auto Show from 6 to 15 April 2012. (via Design Taxi)
