Swedish artist Henrik Sahlström has redesigned the looks of four Batman characters to reflect the film noir aesthetic. It helps that the dark and gritty feel of the comics and movies translates well to this look—The Dark Knight’s voluminous cloak conceals him in an aura of mystery while the Joker steals the show with his psychotic grin. Artist Cathryn Lavery has created a poster that traces the evolution of Batman logos—starting from the 1940’s ‘Batman & Robin: The Boy Wonder’ to the latest bat logo from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.


Christopher Nolan has revealed the official title of his third Batman movie. It will be called “The Dark Knight Rises”. Christopher Nolan said: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.”

When pressed about whether the villain would be covered in question marks, Nolan gave a negative response. “It won’t be the Riddler,” he said. “The Dark Knight Rises” will be released on July the 20th, 2012. (via Total Film)
