Love the simplicity and whiteness of Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus ‘Dvojka,’ a small wine bar in Letná/Prague with the looks of an artist studio. (via Designboom)

In 1979, SONY debuted the WALKMAN®, introducing to the world a new way to enjoy high-quality music, anywhere, anytime. To celebrate the WALKMAN 40th anniversary, SONY has opened an exhibition in Tokyo’s Ginza district. The “#009 WALKMAN IN THE PARK 40 years since the day the music walked” exhibition focuses on the people for whom the WALKMAN has been a part of their everyday life.

For us old enough to not only remember, but also used, the SONY WALKMAN®, this portable cassette player was the “thing” in the 80s. I had a red SONY WALKMAN® which I bought in 1985 or 1986 and I used it till it broke… I really like that SONY celebrate the WALKMAN 40th anniversary. That makes me truly nostalgic and happy. Vespa’s new special edition named ‘Sei Giorni’, which translates to ‘six days’, celebrates the original Vespa sport scooter that won nine gold medals at the international six days of Varese in 1951. Based on today’s generation Vespa ‘GTS’ scooters, the limited ‘Sei Giorni’ harks back to the italian-manufacturer’s iconic style. Suchlike its 66-year-old predecessor, it features a unique low-mounted headlamp located on the front fender, special handlebars, plus the same colorway, and details inspired by the winning scooter. A new ‘intelligent turntable’ that allows record collectors to play vinyl directly from their smartphone is currently in the works. It promises music fans, ‘the intimacy of vinyl with modern day convenience’ and it ‘reads vinyl with a stylus, connects to bluetooth and wi-fi, and is controlled by your smartphone’. Designed by Yves Béhar, the sculptural-spinning object is capturing peoples’ imaginations with its unorthodox playing style — rather than the record traditionally turning on a platter, the technology literally puts a spin on vinyl.
